it had been months since the soiree with no sign of mint outside of him giving artemis pokemon. which meant, of course, artemis hadn't been able to talk to him about any of it.

for fucking months.

and, of course, any attempts to look for mint had come up with nothing, and not for lack of trying. artemis had, because he wanted to know if they were even still friends after this whole mess. but trying only got him so far, and right now that was some lilycove department store. he was tired, and he just wanted some sort of confirmation about this. but if mint didn't want to be found, he wasn't going to be.

funny how that worked, wasn't it?

shoving down any bitter feelings- or trying to, because it was getting harder- artemis made his way to a bench nearby, hoping he radiated enough leave me alone energy that someone even considering approaching would rethink this. he wouldn't be that lucky, and knew it, but he could hope.

he thinks he deserved that, though, at the very least.

It’s not often that Andres had a day to do nothing at all. Unscheduled, and still slightly energetic. On days like this he tended to stay home and stay cozy by the fire. The only problem? No warm body to share heat with him. This presented a problem and Andres was more than willing to out and find his temporary solution. After a small errand or two, he’d thought anyway. It’s not often you see some looking so miserable right in front of the Lillycove Department Store. [break][break]

He's not one to leave well enough alone and approached the trainer. “Hey handsome, you didn’t get the prize you wanted form the department lotto?” he asked before crouching just enough in front of Artemis so he could catch his eyes. Once he had those in sight, he grinned at him. “I’m usually lucky, I can pull for you if you want…but it’ll cost ya~” he said before tilting his head to the side and tapping his cheek. “Un bechito, and I’ll give you all my good luck for the week~” To further sell it, he added. “I probably have a little wipe here in my jacket so you can be 100% guaranteed I’m clean. Que dices? ”

artemis' plan to have people leave him alone seems to work. for a while, anyways. not for as long as he would have wanted, until a new voice pulls him out of his thoughts. it's not mint, and it's not reve; and something tells him it wasn't any of the people he had met in passing at the soiree, either. which, honestly, he was thanking everything for; he had been a mess after the mist. no stranger needed to see that from him.

it takes a minute for him to process that the stranger is talking to him, calling him handsome. 'something like that?' it's a lie, but he doesn't want to exactly tell this stranger he's looking for his best friend. it seems like a secret or something, especially when the man catches his eyes. the stranger is attractive; maybe not in the relationship-seeking way for artemis, but he's handsome.

handsome or not, it doesn't stop artemis from furrowing his brows in confusion. he knows there's some meaning, there, but the fact that he's being flirted with doesn't click with him at all. 'what?

he's not upset at all, and he hopes the stranger realizes this. he's just confused.

Something like that makes him somewhat right. “Un besito.” Andres repeated, not at all deterred by Artemis’ confusion. In fact, he took the opportunity to sit down next to him, stretching out his legs in front of him and getting comfortable despite how cold his ass was on the bench. “A little kiss… riiight here.” He said pointing at his cheek. “However, I’ve been told if you kiss me riiiight here,” he said pointing at his mouth. "You get a little luckier~" he said, smirking at the stranger. [break][break]

Hadn’t he meant to run errands? Yeah, that was a thing he could do on the weekend at some point. Now? Now he kinda just wanted to stay here, even if it went nowhere. His movements are practiced, carefully made after years and years of trying to get this right and not bitch out at the last minute. After all, it’s a rather forward move, and baby Andres had once been a very sensitive boy. He still was, deep down somewhere. When he stopped to think with his head and not his crotch. He put a finger under Artemis’ chin gently tilting the trainer’s head upwards and grinning hungrily. “Well, your choice really. I’m just here to provide.”

the stranger doesn't seem bothered by artemis' confusion, and he can't figure out if that's a good thing or not. he repeats what he had said earlier, and artemis' brows furrow more. it's the idea that anyone would flirt with him, and so casually, that he gets lost at. they sit next to him, and artemis moves to give him room; just in case he needs it. he stretches out his legs, and artemis watches him curiously. in the way he'd watch any other stranger; without the sudden compliments, obviously.

the outright mention of a kiss is enough to make him pull back. just a little; out of anything he had thought, it wouldn't be for that. and he had hopes of a fairytale, perfect kiss being his first- not one in front of a department store. not with a stranger who artemis doesn't even know.

but that fairy tale first kiss isn't going to happen. he knows that, and- surely this wouldn't hurt anyone.

the stranger tilts his head up, and, despite the flush in his cheeks at the movement, artemis finds himself grinning back. awkwardly, and a bit nervously, because he's not really used to this.

'don't i get a name, first?'

There’s no slap or instant revulsion when he did this. Just a smiley stranger, looking a little awkward and a little giddy. It’s even cuter than when they were sulking. “Andres. Andres Buenaventura.” He said still keeping close, not breaking contact. Perhaps a bit of pink dusted his cheeks, but the blonde had long since gotten over most of his embarrassment for pda in public. [break][break]

To anyone else they probably looked really annoying, but Andres grinned anyway more than happy to chase after someone who hadn’t outright rejected him….yet. He’d keep his hopes up though. “I’ll bring you good luck, guaranteed.” He asserted once more before leaning in a bit closer, moving past Artemis’ lips and leaning over to whisper gently into his ear. “I’m also available if you need to stay warm tonight~” You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. He pulled back, his expression a little sharper, more serious before he relaxed. “What do you say? I don’t mind taking a beauty like you around town. There’s even an art museum nearby.” The blonde continued, practically asking Artemis out on a date.

the stranger- andres, still stays close. he doesn't break contact, and artemis almost hates that he wants to lean closer. it's almost embarrassing that a stranger has artemis more or less wrapped around his finger after just a few minutes. maybe it's just because he's never had attention like this- no mention of his modeling career, or his family, or anything like that. sure, there are probably ulterior motives; there always is. but if it has to do with his fame, andres is doing a good job of hiding it.

and artemis was buying into every word he said.

it's only then that he realizes he hasn't told andres his name. a bit nervously, dreading his response, he lifts his hands to sign out 'artemis chary.' as an introduction. maybe it's too late, or maybe the man really doesn care about his fame- either way, the implication of his words have artemis' cheeks flushing more than they were. now that he's aware he's being flirted with? yeah, he gets what andres means.

and, even if his face is flushed, he doesn't really mind it.

'okay.' it's an agreement to his words, the offer for a date- even if artemis is nervous about this. even if he hasn't been on a date before. and then, to be clear, before he could overthink- 'it's a date, then?'

If he was surprised or confused at the introduction, Andres didn’t show it only smiling wider at the stranger. “That’s as pretty a name as you are, Artemis~” he can’t help but say. The name rang around in his head and itched his brain. There was something there, but he wasn’t super focused on figuring it out yet. It didn’t feel bad though. Especially not with how quickly the trainer blushed for him. He nodded slowly, before leaning forward brushing his lips with Artemis’. He waited for some sort of flinch to be safe but pushed forward closing the gap anyway. He raised a hand, cupping Artemis’ cheek as he kissed him slowly, almost chastely before pulling away. [break][break]

“It’s a date.” He repeated before standing up and offering a hand to the man. “Wanna see what you’ll win, guero? Or wanna just get on with our day?” he asked. Andres had promised to give him all his good luck after all. He wouldn’t mind seeing if it had any effect.

artemis know what the man's intentions are after his comment; he's inexperienced in relationships, sure, but that doesn't mean he's totally unaware of everything. but he also thinks he could thrive under attention like this, just this once. there's a part of his brain that tells him he should let reve know where he's at when he gets the chance, so his friend doesn't worry, but andres is close, and any rational thoughts are wiped away just as fast by the brush of the other man's lips against his.

there's a jolt that comes with the realization that this is his first kiss, if he leans closer. no fairy tale romance like he had wanted- like in the movies he had watched. a kiss with a stranger outside of a department store. even with that, it's easier than he had expected to close the gap- just as andres did. it's almost everything he had wanted; aside from the obvious, of course, but there was no changing that now.

andres pulls away and starts to stand much sooner than artemis had hoped, and briefly, artemis hopes he hadn't changed his mind due to artemis' (probably) awkward kissing, but his words and the way he offers a hand confirms otherwise. 'i'll see what i win, first.' if it as something small, he could use it as some mystery gift or souvenir to his family. he pauses, and pulls out his phone to send a quick text to reve zajac:

something unexpected came up. may be a little late with errands.

not the whole truth, but close enough, and he doubted reve would want to know the details. with the message sent, he reaches for andres' outstretched hand.

“Let’s find out then~” he said, taking Artemis’ hand in his, and intertwined his fingers with Artemis’. It comes with ease, not just because he’s done it so many times before but because on some level, he felt comfortable with the model. Andres led his new date into the department store, smiling as they made their way to the counter, and he greeted the young lady at the counter. “We’d like to try our luck at the Lucky Lotto please.” He said before stepping back and allowing Artemis to handle the situation himself. [break][break]

The lady is polite, and happy to oblige. She gestured towards Artemis the little lottery machine. No capsule machine today. “Let’s hope my luck doesn’t run off on you.” He teased his companion as he waited to see the mystery gift his date would get. The prizes were always pretty cute, even if they were cheap. He’d gotten a couple of accessories for Chuchi through it once. Andres hadn’t actually won the large prize despite visiting almost weekly since he moved to Lillycove. But it was fine with it. The fun was playing every day, right?

artemis doesn't know just why he lets the man take his hand so easily, but he does. it's different than holding reve zajac's hand, he thinks, for the obvious fact that anything with reve is platonic. this- well, it's not a romantic thing, but it's definitely not the same. artemis doesn't think he really minds, it, honestly; sure, mindlessly trusting a stranger is a horrible decision, but part of his thoughts are still focused on the kiss. a part of him almost hopes for another, but- it's a date, right? plenty of oppurtunities for something like that. even if they are with someone he barely knows.

he's pulled out of his thoughts at andres' request for the lotto. the woman is happy to help, and artemis offers her an almost-awkward smile as he goes to the lottery machine. after a moment or two, and with a thank you signed to the woman at the counter, he turned with a 'guess-it-did' grin and a small bow in one hand. not that he's really upset about it, though; it wasn't like he had really been after the lottery in the first place. and, if nothing else, at least he had a cute bow to show for it. he could put it on solaris, or estella- or any of reve's pokemon if he agreed.

He’d hoped for something a little bigger, something more impressive but he supposed that was the trade off for being able to draw a lotto ticket every time you visited. Smaller prizes to give out more often. Oh well. It was technically a win, right? “Cute. Want me to put it on you?” the blonde offered, taking a moment to brush back some of Artemis’ hair behind one of his ears. “I can pin this back a little.” He continued, his fingers lingering by Artemis’ temple, brushing against skin as he pulled back his hand.

He nodded back to the exit. “So, what next? Little sight seeing walk, or the café in the food court?” he asked, letting Artemis lead the way for them. He offered his arm for the model. “The pecha berry tarts are pretty good. My pokemon Chuchi loves tearing up a whole box of them.” he said, grinning at the memory. That Eevee was insatiable.

artemis doesn't mind the bow that much; it's cute enough, and a win is a win. especially since he doesn't really visit lilycove that often- it was too far away from the apartment in littleroot, for one, and his own apartment was practically abandoned at this point even if it was closer. his thoughts short-circuit at andres' touch, and for a second he almost leans into the touch. it's a small gesture, and in any other scenario he wouldn't care for a stranger touching him at all.

but this isn't any other scenario, is it? it stopped being that from the start.

he hopes, briefly, that the fact that he doesn't move away is enough confirmation, because he can't think of anything to say that doesn't sound weird- or just overall awkward. 'the pecha berry tarts?' he hadn't heard of them, and he can't shake the feeling that the pokemon's name is familiar-

right. the meeting had been brief, and a few years ago, but he had met an andres and an eevee named chuchi. maybe it was just coincidence, but it seemed too weird to be one. either way-

'is your pokemon an eevee?' is it odd to ask out of nowhere? maybe, but he has to know now.

The blonde can’t help but grin a little at how receptive Artemis was to pda. He would’ve thought him the shyer type, but this is really cute too. He nodded before gesturing at an entrance to the café attached to the department store. “They sell savory things too, but their specialty are those tarts.” He explained. Before he could detail many other good choices on the menu, the model interrupted him, and he tilted his head curiously at Artemis. Kind of like a dog that’d just been asked to do a trick it hadn’t learned yet. [break][break]

“Oh?” Had he hooked up with this guy and not remembered it? That’d be awkward if that were the case but…surely he wouldn’t have been so calm if he recognized Andres right? They wouldn’t let him go as far as kissing him all over again for a scheme. No way. He nodded slowly, despite the potential danger. “Yeah, actually. Chuchi’s a fat little Eevee.” He said doing his best to keep cool. “How’d you know? Seen me in your dreams, tesoro?” he asked with a sly grin.
